What personal data we collect, why we use it, who we may share it with, how we protect it, and how long we keep it.
Effective date31 August 2026
1. Who we are
Marketing Parasite is the trading name of Marketing Parasite Ltd, a company registered in Ghana under registration number CS ** 9** *4**.
Marketing Parasite Ltd is registered with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission.
For personal data that we collect and use for our own business purposes, Marketing Parasite Ltd is generally the data controller. In some client engagements, we may process personal data strictly on a client’s documented instructions. In that situation, the client may be the data controller and we may act as a data processor for that processing.
You can contact us about privacy at support@marketingparasite.com or by telephone on +233 50 716 6102.
2. The law and principles we follow
Our handling of personal data is governed principally by Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and other applicable law.
We aim to process personal data lawfully and reasonably, for defined purposes, in a way that is relevant and not excessive, with appropriate accuracy, transparency, security and respect for the rights of the individual concerned.
Where another data-protection law applies to particular processing because of the circumstances of the individual or the processing, we will assess and comply with the obligations that apply to us.
3. Personal data we may collect
The personal data we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include
- Identity and contact information, such as your name, business name, job title, email address, telephone number and other contact details you provide.
- Booking and enquiry information, including information you submit when booking a growth call, sending an enquiry, requesting a proposal or contacting us through an approved channel.
- Client and engagement information, such as information needed to assess a business, prepare a scope, administer an engagement, provide services, communicate with authorised client contacts and maintain an engagement record.
- Account and access information, including records of administrator access or platform permissions provided for the purpose of delivering an agreed service. We prefer platform permissions and invitations over the sharing of passwords wherever the relevant platform supports them.
- Correspondence and support information, including emails, meeting notes, requests, feedback, complaints and records of decisions or approvals.
- Marketing preferences, including whether you have asked to receive or stop receiving direct marketing from us and records needed to honour that choice.
- Website and technical information, such as IP address, browser or device information, approximate location derived from technical data, the address that referred you, what was viewed, timestamps, security events and server logs.
- Analytics information, where you have given any consent required for optional analytics technologies, such as information about how visitors use and move through the website.
- Information from public or third-party sources, where lawful and relevant, for example information a business has made public or information supplied by an authorised representative or referral source.
We do not ask you to provide special or sensitive personal data unless it is genuinely necessary for a lawful purpose and appropriate safeguards are in place. Please do not send sensitive personal information through a general website enquiry unless we have specifically asked for it and explained why it is required.
4. How we collect personal data
We may collect personal data
- directly from you when you contact us, book a meeting, submit a form, communicate with us or enter into an engagement;
- from an authorised person acting for your business;
- through the website, server logs, security tools and, where permitted by your choice, analytics or other optional technologies;
- through the tools used to deliver an engagement; and
- from lawful public sources where the information is relevant to a genuine business purpose.
5. Why we use personal data
We may use personal data to
- respond to enquiries and arrange growth calls;
- assess whether we can help a prospective client and prepare an audit, proposal, scope or engagement documentation;
- enter into and perform client engagements;
- deliver, manage, measure and report on agreed digital marketing and SEO services;
- manage client-owned accounts, permissions and handover records;
- communicate about work, approvals, risks, deliverables, invoices or service administration;
- operate, secure, maintain and improve our website and business systems;
- diagnose technical faults, prevent misuse and protect our systems and users;
- maintain business, contractual, financial, compliance and dispute records;
- comply with legal or regulatory obligations and respond to lawful requests;
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
- send direct marketing where we have the consent or other legal permission required for that communication.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it for future processing. Where processing is necessary for a contract, a legal obligation, the protection of a legitimate interest, or another lawful justification recognised by applicable law, stopping the processing may not always be possible while that justification continues.
6. Direct marketing
We do not treat an enquiry, business card, website visit or client relationship as unlimited permission to market to you.
Where the law requires consent for direct marketing, we will seek that consent before using your personal data for that purpose. Every marketing message we control will provide a practical way to stop future marketing, and you may also object by contacting support@marketingparasite.com.
If you opt out, we may keep a minimal suppression record so that we can remember and respect the opt-out rather than accidentally adding you back to a marketing list.
7. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
We use strictly necessary technologies where required for the secure and reliable operation of the website. We do not activate optional analytics, advertising or similar non-essential technologies until the consent required for them has been obtained.
You can review and change your choices at any time through Cookie Settings. More information is available in our Cookie Policy.
8. Who we may share personal data with
We never trade personal data, and we never pass it to anyone for money.
We may disclose or make personal data available to carefully selected recipients where this is necessary for a lawful business purpose, including
- hosting, infrastructure, security and content-delivery providers;
- scheduling and calendar providers used to arrange meetings;
- email, communications and customer-record tools;
- analytics providers, but only in accordance with the choices and legal requirements applicable to optional analytics;
- vetted subcontractors or specialists engaged for a client scope, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-handling requirements;
- accountants, auditors, insurers, legal advisers and other professional advisers;
- a client, where the information is processed as part of that client’s engagement and the disclosure is consistent with the agreed scope;
- regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and
- a buyer, investor or successor in connection with a genuine corporate transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
Our current business systems may involve providers such as Orange Host/cPanel, Cloudflare, Google services, Cal.com, Notion and Brevo, depending on the particular interaction and the configuration in use. The fact that a service is named here does not mean every visitor’s personal data is sent to every service.
9. International processing and service providers
Some technology providers or members of their infrastructure may be located outside Ghana or may process information in more than one country.
Where personal data is processed internationally, we will take reasonable steps to understand the destination and the safeguards that apply, use appropriate contractual or organisational measures where required, and apply any data-protection rules that legally govern the particular processing.
The website and our services are directed to businesses operating in Ghana. We do not represent that a visitor’s location outside Ghana is irrelevant to privacy law; where foreign data-protection rules apply to particular processing, we will assess those rules with our advisers.
10. How long we keep personal data
We do not keep personal data for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, except where a longer period is required or permitted for a lawful contractual, regulatory, accounting, tax, security, evidential or dispute-related purpose.
Retention depends on the type of record and why we hold it. When a retention purpose ends, we will delete or destroy the data securely, de-identify it where appropriate, or retain only what is legally necessary.
We maintain or will maintain internal retention rules for categories such as enquiries, client engagement files, accounting records, consent records, suppression records, server/security logs and analytics. Those operational periods will be reviewed as the systems are implemented.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against loss, unauthorised access, unlawful processing, accidental destruction, alteration or disclosure.
Measures may include access controls, account permissions, secure hosting and transmission practices, authentication controls, backups, restricted contractor access, documented handovers and regular review of the systems used to process information.
No internet or information system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If we become aware of a personal-data security incident, we will assess it promptly and take the notification and remediation steps required by applicable law.
12. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to
- ask whether we hold personal data about you and request access to it;
- ask for personal data that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, excessive, irrelevant or out of date to be corrected, and in appropriate cases deleted;
- object to certain processing;
- require us to stop using your personal data for direct marketing;
- ask us to stop processing that is causing or likely to cause unwarranted damage or distress where the legal conditions are met;
- raise concerns about certain decisions made solely by automated processing where applicable; and
- complain to the competent data-protection regulator or seek another remedy available by law.
Our Your Data Rights notice explains how to make a request.
13. Children
Our website and services are intended for businesses and business decision-makers. They are not designed for children, and we do not knowingly seek to collect personal data from children through the website.
If you believe a child has provided personal data to us inappropriately, contact support@marketingparasite.com so we can review the matter.
14. Third-party websites and services
Our website may link to third-party services, including scheduling, social-media or communication platforms. When you leave our website or use a third-party service, that provider may process information under its own privacy terms. We are not responsible for a third party’s independent processing simply because we link to its service.
15. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice when our services, technology, legal obligations or data-handling practices change. The effective date at the top of the notice will be updated when a revised version is published.
